Experiencing music

The bim method offers a practical way of using music activities to teach and care for children and adults with severe multiple mental disabilities. The Dutch acronym ‘bim stands for beleven in muziek or ‘experiencing music’.

The counselor ‘interprets’ the music by bringing it into contact with the child’s or adult’s body, allowing them to experience it physically.

The method is designed so that the music activities can be carried out either in a group or in individual, one-to-one sessions.
